My Methylation Panel Results

Postby caledonia » Wed Feb 24, 2010 6:44 am

Hi, I finally got my results after 5 months of waiting. Apparently mine were run in October before the lab closed, so I was able to get them once the lab moved and started answering their phones again. At the time I took the test, I had been taking a tiny amount of Folapro for about 6 months, getting both a bit of energy and detox along with significant improvement in MCS.

Misc.

Glutathione (oxidized) 0.66 / ref 0.16-0.50
Glutathion (reduced) 3.8 / ref 3.8-5.5

Derivates
S-Adenosylmethionine (RBC) 207 / ref 221-256
S-Adenosylhomocysteine (RBC) 52.5 / ref 38-49

Folic Acid Derivatives
5-CH3-THF 16 / ref 8.4-72.6
10-Formyl-THF 2.3 / ref 1.5-8.2
5-Formyl-THF 2.00 / ref 1.20-11.70
THF 1.20 / ref/ .60-6.80
Folic Acid 16.6 / 8.9-24.6
Foliinic Acid (WB_ 12.5 / ref 9.0-35.5
Folic Acid (RBC) 320 / ref 400-1500

Nucleoside
Adenosine 24.6 / ref 16.8-21.4

My doc talked to Dr. Auydha and he said I had a lot of oxidative stress and cell membrane dysfunction. According to Rich's interpretation, I have a classic CFS pattern of a partial methylation block.

My doc hasn't been able to read Rich's paper yet, so he went by his own judgment and prescribed, in addition to the Folapro, methylcobalamin liquid and Folic Acid Plus which contains Vit. C, Riboflavin, B6 (pyroxidine hcl), B12 (cyanocobalamin), and Folate (25% 5-methyl folate, 75% folic acid). These were tested by electro dermal screening and tested well for me.

Hi,, Caledonia.

I concur with what Dr. Audhya said. Your folate metabolites look pretty good. I think your main issue is the oxidative stress and the low-normal glutathione that goes along with it. I think that is what is torpedoing your B12 and maintaining the partial block in the methylation cycle. I think your doctor made some good choices. Boosting the B12 will be especially important, I think.

Best regards,

Rich
